Chip
Occasionally, I sleep over at my mom’s house where she has her two Siamesers – Hamlet and Chip. I tend to sleep in the basement bedroom with those two around as Mom locks them downstairs so they don’t wake her up. This is my plight. While I love sleeping with cats, they, too, keep me up.
First, Hamlet.
Hamlet doesn’t come and snuggle with me in bed. So, I left the bedroom door open so Chip could come and cuddle with me as I slept. About half way through the night, Hamlet decided he was going to howl outside my open door. Of course, he disturbed my slumber. This went on for about five minutes then he scratched on the door frame to the next room, making a popping sound. This lasted a few minutes while I lay in bed hoping he would stop. Eventually, he did. And I went back to sleep.
Second, Chip.
Little Chip loves to cuddle and I love to cuddle with her as I read in bed. When the time came to turn out the light, she stayed by my side. And after Hamlet stopped making noise, she was quietly there still. But about a hour later, Chip decided it was time for me to give her some attention. She rubbed up against my left hand – repeatedly. Of course, this woke me up. So, I petted her and eventually fell back to sleep. However, she wanted more and woke me again. This time I put her out of the bedroom and closed the door. Then she started meowing at the door. I tried to ignore her but she kept me awake. I decided to chance it. I let her back in and went back to sleep. Surprisingly, she let me sleep.
Now when I stay over at my mother’s, I know my quality of sleep won’t be the best. I love her felines but can’t wait to get home to my undisturbed bed and get some good shuteye.
